Every hour or so, there will be a special ‘field trip’ … a short guided walk with an expert biologist. The after dark field trips …  light-trapping for moths, and searching for nocturnal insects and spiders are especially popular (you’d be surprised what comes out to feed once the sun goes down).  Usually there is no need to book … just turn up but bring stout footwear (tramping boots with gripped soles are brilliant), suitable clothes and a torch if you are staying after dark; bug spray can sometimes be a good idea too). Bring sun smart essentials for day visits and day tours.

Field trips are free.

BioBlitz is a very family-friendly event but kids must be supervised by an adult. No dogs please (they are not permitted in the reserve).

We will post more details soon. However it is advisable to check the timetable on the day.  If there is a lot of interest in events, we will try to stagger slightly to enable people to take part in as many field trips as possible. Each field trips usually last 30-60 minutes, and they generally entail use of formed paths and crossing uneven ground. You can ask for more information at the base-camp marquee.

Smoking and alcohol are not permitted.
